Throughout the webinar, we will provide research, strategies, and activities for your social-emotional learning initiatives.

In the webinar, we’ll explore SEL and provide research, strategies, and effective ways to implement on campus. As a takeaway, you’ll gather actionable insights from Sanford Harmony and the Making Caring Common initiative to promote empathy and kindness in elementary, middle and high school classrooms. Milena Batanova leads the Instructional Strategies to Promote Empathy initiative at Making Caring Common, a project of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She works with teachers and schools to facilitate and evaluate the implementation of low-burden strategies to promote students’ attitudes and behaviors related to empathy. She is a former Research Assistant Professor from the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University. Milena loves to travel and to dream about a better world for all.

Jill McManigal is the Co-founder and Executive Director of Kids for Peace, home to The Great Kindness Challenge. She is a former elementary school teacher, character education specialist, and children's playwright. Jill is the proud mother of two amazing teenagers and an eternal optimist who lives to make our world more loving, kind and peaceful for all.

Margaret Johnson is the Western Regional Ambassador for Sanford Harmony and has trained over 2,000 educators to use Harmony in their classrooms. Margaret began her career as an after-school leader, elementary teacher, reading specialist, Early Childhood Coordinator and has since served as a Mentor Teacher and Director of Curriculum and Staff Development, and as a Principal for schools honored as CA Distinguished Schools.
