The ability to collect, synthesize and interpret data has become critical in many facets of our daily lives. The tools that are available to us now to perform data analytics, often using sophisticated Artificial Intelligence, give us visualizations and insights never seen previously. For students to be able to succeed in this current climate, they must be equipped with an understanding of how these tools can be used and the role they play.

In this session, Dr. Trottier maps out Data Analytics to help faculty see the landscape of data and analytics in a non-intimidating way. This session is a step-by-step look at how to perform data analytics from formulating a question, looking at data, assessing techniques, and communicating results. She will also show where software plays a role, such as Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, and programming (such as R or Python). The second half of the session is a simple introduction to machine learning and artificial intelligence, as these techniques are increasingly used in the business world.

Note: This session will not be recorded
