About Tammy Schirle

Tammy Schirle is a professor of economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. She is also a Co-Editor for Canadian Public Policy, the former Director of the Laurier Centre for Economic Research and Policy Analysis (LCERPA), a board member for the Canadian Labour Economics Forum (CLEF) and a C.D. Howe Institute.

Her research interests include the economics of the elderly, income inequality, social policy and the economics of gender.

She has published articles in several academic journals, including the Journal of Labor Economics, Canadian Journal of Economics, Canadian Public Policy and Industrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society.

About Trevor Tombe

Trevor Tombe is a Professor at the University of Calgary’s Department of Economics and the Director of Fiscal and Economic Policy at The School of Public Policy. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Toronto and undergraduate degree in finance from Simon Fraser University. His research explores a broad set of topics, including international trade, public finances, and fiscal federalism.

Trevor has published in top economics journals, is co-author of the textbooks Public Finance in Canada and Macroeconomics, and co-editor of the recent volume Fiscal Federalism in Canada. He is also co-director of Finances of the Nation, a Public Policy Forum Fellow, and a Senior Fellow at The Macdonald-Laurier Institute.

In addition to his academic work, Trevor actively advises various governments on a wide range of issues and contributes to policy development and discussions through regular op-eds, articles, and media engagement, including as a regular contributor to The Hub.
