Fred Phillips
Fred Phillips is professor emeritus at the University of Saskatchewan. Most of his teaching has focused on introductory financial accounting, at the University of Saskatchewan, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Manitoba. Fred has an undergraduate accounting degree, and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a non-practicing CPA, CA (Canada), having previously worked as an audit manager at KPMG.
Fred has been recognized with numerous accounting education awards, as chosen by his students and peers. Most notably, Fred was awarded the title Master Teacher at the University of Saskatchewan and he was admitted to the 3M National Teaching Fellowship, the highest honor for undergraduate teaching in Canada. His peer-reviewed research and instructional cases have been published in Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Research, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, among others. Outside of academics, Fred is a professional tennis official, having worked at the Billie Jean King Cup, Davis Cup, and Laver Cup, as well as ATP, ITF, WTA, and Grand Slam tournaments in Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, and the United States.
Shana Clor-Proell
Shana Clor-Proell is a professor at Texas Christian University, where she teaches introductory financial accounting and advanced accounting. She has also taught at Cornell University, the University of Wisconsin, the University of California–San Diego, and San Diego State University.
Shana received her BS, MS, and PhD from Cornell University. She is a CPA (Wisconsin) and previously worked as an auditor for Arthur Andersen. She co-authors McGraw Hill’s Fundamentals of Financial Accounting, with Fred Phillips, Bob Libby, and Pat Libby.
Shana’s research examines judgment and decision making in financial accounting contexts. Her work has been published in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, and Contemporary Accounting Research, among others. Shana is a member of the Teaching, Learning and Curriculum (TLC), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), and Accounting, Behavior and Organizations (ABO), and Diversity sections of the American Accounting Association.
In her spare time, Shana enjoys long walks, meditation, and spending time with her family.
